Kaadhalan, the first album in this CD was a huge hit for ARR. Songs like Urvasi, Pettai rap (one of the first rap songs in indian film music), the semi-carnatic "ennavale" and the cowboyish "Muqabala" ensured that the film was a hit.
The second album in this CD is Roja ARR's debut album which bought him instant fame.
Songs like "Pudhu Vellai Mazai"(with synths reminding one of Vangelis) and Chinna Chinna Aasai were great hits and bought in the "new" sound for the Tamil and Indian film industries.
It's too bad that the Oscar had to go for Slumdog instead of Roja
